Using FME to Develop Self-Service CAD Applications for a Major UK Police Force

CAD to GIS integrations have played a critical role in the evolution of FME Form’s solution for over 30 years, however current space management and utilization challenges still make this an incredibly effective tool. Combined with FME Flow’s powerful automation and web application functionality, it is possible to communicate and share data, siloed within CAD document management platforms such as AutoDesk Vault, with a wider organisation to meet the current business needs. This presentation will reflect on a major project, recently completed for a large national police force in the United Kingdom, where we integrated a city-wide portfolio of CAD floorplans held within Autodesk Vault, into an existing GIS environment in order to build a suite of self-service reporting tools for the wider organisation thus massively reducing bottlenecks and manual reporting tasks.
